'MyGirl'

Where do I start?,

MyGirl is an initiative/project started by Fisherman's Rest to help empower women during their menstrual cycle.

Malawi is a nation of strong culture, belief and years of strong tradition, and as part of their culture, they have many beliefs around a woman starting their menstrual cycle.

- I must point out that for now, I don't feel it is appropriate to mention their beliefs, as some could be seen to be disturbing and inappropriate for the mass population.

The MyGirl project however focuses on these beliefs and attempts to show women, and men, that these are false a day that the beliefs they have about the menstrual cycle are improper and unjust.

The project also helps to provide sanitary packs which include re-usable pads and underwear to women starting their periods so that hey can improve hygiene and also help prevent school drop outs from women, caused by their periods because they don't have proper sanitary products.

MyGirl solely relies on outside funding and personal charity donations to it in order to run efficiently, and the project is now aiming to produce solid quantitative research in order to prove that the initiative works effectively.
